Mother Tongue: the daily language family game

Everyone gets the same mystery language each day. It's waiting in an egg at the top of the family tree.

Guess any language. Pip hops to the deepest branch it shares with the mystery: guess Spanish when it's Portuguese, and you learn they're both West Iberian.

Each guess also shows how far away the mystery is spoken, and in which direction, even when they aren't related.

The closer you get, the more the egg cracks. Type a branch's name, like Bantu, to see the languages in it.

After 5, 10 and 15 guesses you get a hint. You have 20 guesses in all: the fewer you need, the better your feather.
